    Test for pewter

Anyone know if there is a simple 'back yard' type test for pewter/tin?

As opposed to zinc or few other metal, pewter with lead will leave a mark on paper. To test the zinc you could also see if it smokes whites like zinc.
There are only 10 types of people in the world

Thanks ziper. Is there enough lead in it to do that for sure?

Depends on the pewter. Older stuff can have a fair amount of lead in it, the newer stuff has antimony in it instead.
Use those coffee makers with the spout out the bottom to preheat you oil!
