So that stupid lil emblem is kicking my butt!! I machined out a pattern in wax and took a mold from it, but getting the .010" wide text to come out is impossible. The wax just does not like to fill the cavity, and when it actually does it usually breaks off. So I tried milling one in brass it went ok but snapped the endmill before i finished. My mills spindle speed is limiting me on this project, so I decided to add on a auxiliary spindle that can wind up to 30,000 rpms. Being on a budget meant that the kress spindle ($300.00) was not an option. Searching the local stores I found a Makita RT0701c router trimmer that seemed well suited for the task, but was only supplied with a 1/4" collet. I searched the net for a bit and found a gentleman who offers different size collets at a reasonable cost. http://www.elairecorp.com/makitaroutercollets.html
Ok now were getting somewhere!! So I ordered the collets and went back to Home depo spending just $89.00 and came home with a very nice piece of equipment. I modeled up a bracket, machined it out, and fitted it to the mill. Now I sit here waiting on the collet to arrive....Bummer....

I went ahead and played around with the enameling on the unfinished brass that I broke the end mill on....Hopefully this gives some idea of what I am attempting to do. Dont mind the scratch, when I actually get things right I will be chrome plating them after machining....

I know it doesnt look like much, but it took me quite a bit of time to whittle it out. One more step forward....now when is that new mill showing up?

New tool works like a champ. I had some very deep pitting on a couple of seats that I was concerned about having to put a new seat into, but fortunately they cleaned up. I need to order a couple more stones so I can make the top and bottom cuts but for now Im a happy guy.......Now back to work on the cylinder head patterns........
