Aluminum Easy Button

This is the ultimate paradox! An easy button made from hard aluminum!

Sand cast of course.

I still have to cut off the sprues and machine. That should be easy as its round and will easily go in the chuck. This has to be one of my favorite castings ever. Coehorn Mortar

I started an ambitious project for myself about a month ago. Between on and off work, I now have a pattern mostly complete.

The Mortar will have a three inch bore. Its about 9" long overall. I turned it withe the hole for the trunion. The coreprint is of course on the pattern for casting it hollow. I could also use it as the head and cast the cannon solid, but I don't have a large enough crucible to do that yet.

I would like to cast it in bronze or brass.
